Electrical energy is a key element in improving a country's living conditions and industrialization. In sub-Saharan Africa, the supply of electricity is a real problem in both households and industries. In Cameroon, for example, less than 65% of its population has access to electricity, which total production is currently between 8,500 and 9,000 GWh. Its energy mix is currently composed of 62% hydro, 26% natural gas, 12% fuel, 1% biomass and 0.5% photovoltaic or solar.
Its electricity network, which does not cover the entire national territory, is subject to huge voltage variations and untimely outages (especially during the months of December to March). These voltage variations or power cuts are the source of several damages both in companies and in households. For example, there are very often production stoppages in companies, damage to electrical appliances or fresh food in households and small businesses.
systems for centralizing energy production as used are no longer coConventionalmpetitive today because of the high costs of transportation. In addition, they are technologically less efficient due to energy losses over long distances. The long-distance transport of energy also increases the risks of its availability in the event of damage to infrastructures.
The decentralization of electrical energy production, for example with renewable energy technology such as photovoltaics, is a better solution for the future.
